Primeline Recruiters is recruiting on behalf of a prominent California-based business law firm with a sophisticated IP practice. The role can be for an Associate or Partner and offers a potential path to partnership.

You will handle multi-jurisdictional IP disputes across patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters in a high-stakes environment. Outstanding candidates have 5–8 years of IP litigation experience, a J.D., and active California bar membership.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of IP litigation experience across patent, trademark, copyright or trade secret matters
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active bar membership (California preferred)
• Excellent legal writing skills, with experience drafting complex motions and briefs
• This is a litigation role: trial, Markman briefs and PTAB/ITC work preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of IP litigation, from pre-suit to trial and appeal in federal courts, PTAB and ITC proceedings
• Draft and argue dispositive motions and other pleadings
• Take and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
• Develop and execute case strategy and damages theories with technical experts and in-house counsel
• Mentor junior associates and contribute to business development and client relationships

Primeline Recruiters is posting this role on behalf of a client: a large, full-service business law firm based in California with a sophisticated litigation practice and a broad client base, from multinational corporations, financial institutions and technology companies to government agencies. The firm is hiring an IP Litigation Associate or Partner to handle complex intellectual property disputes across patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret matters. You'll play a key role in driving case strategy and managing multi-jurisdictional litigation. The title track leaves room to make partner.

What you will do:

• Manage all phases of IP litigation, from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal, in federal courts, the PTAB and potentially ITC proceedings
• Draft and argue dispositive motions, Markman briefs and other critical pleadings
• Take and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses
• Develop and execute case strategy, including damages theories, with technical experts and in-house counsel
• Mentor junior associates and contribute to business development and client relationships

What you need:

• 5 to 8 years of hands-on IP litigation experience across patent, trademark, copyright or trade secret matters
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active bar membership (California preferred)

• This is a litigation role: the firm wants litigation through trial, Markman briefs and PTAB or ITC work, not prosecution support

Preferred: Trial, appellate argument, or PTAB/ITC experience

Compensation and benefits:

• Base salary of $280,000 - $375,000 depending on experience; higher for exceptional candidates
• Comprehensive benefits package

Work model: On-site, 5 days a week in the office. Office options: Irvine (Orange County), Palo Alto or San Francisco, CA.
