Job summary

We are Buchanan is a well-known, global law firm seeking an IP Litigation Associate to join its intellectual property disputes practice in Los Angeles. The role offers substantial courtroom exposure and sophisticated litigation work, collaborating with experienced trial lawyers on complex disputes in federal courts and administrative forums.

You will manage all phases of IP litigation, draft pleadings and briefs, conduct legal and technical research, and coordinate with experts.

Qualifications

• J.D. from a top-ranked law school with strong academic credentials.
• 3–6 years IP litigation experience at a leading law firm.
• Technical degree in engineering, computer science, biology, chemistry, or related field preferred.
• Experience with patent litigation and complex commercial disputes strongly preferred.
• Outstanding written and oral advocacy skills.
• Admission to the applicable state bar.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of intellectual property litigation, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and case strategy memoranda.
• Conduct legal and technical research related to patent and technology disputes.
• Prepare and defend fact and expert witnesses.
• Coordinate with technical experts and consultants on case development.
• Handle matters before federal district courts, the ITC, and PTAB proceedings where applicable.
• Participate in client counseling regarding litigation risk and IP strategy.
