Job summary

Roblox is seeking an Intellectual Property Counsel to join the Legal and Advocacy team in San Mateo, CA. You will advise on IP enforcement, platform liability, and trade secrets, guiding cross‑functional teams and external counsel through disputes and enforcement actions.

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably a combination of law firm and in-house experience at a consumer‑facing technology company.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• Strong working knowledge of intellectual property issues including trademark, copyright, brand enforcement, and AI.
• Experience counseling on platform liability in the tech industry.
• Track record of educating internal stakeholders and advising on risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Manage active IP disputes end-to-end with internal teams and outside counsel.
• Assess and triage new off-platform infringement reports and coordinate with brand protection vendors.
• Draft and execute cease-and-desist letters, DMCA takedown notices, and IP complaints; manage brand protection vendors.
• Oversee the IP notice-and-takedown program and align with cross-functional partners on decisions and guidance.
• Advise on on-platform enforcement initiatives and launches with respect to platform liability issues (e.g., DMCA, EU Digital Services Act).
• Build and update playbooks, templates, and policies to streamline IP team projects and company-wide programs.
• Support initiatives to protect hard IP and provide IP training to cross-functional partners.
• Stay current on laws and industry standards to provide sound legal advice.
