Job summary

University of Maryland seeks an Intellectual Property Associate to support UM Ventures, College Park's IP program. This role focuses on maintaining IP protection by reviewing invention disclosures, drafting and preparing administrative and IP-related documentation, and ensuring deadlines are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience drafting, editing, and preparing patent prosecution documents.
  • Knowledge of federal IP law and policies.
  • Knowledge of patent prosecution procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and programs simultaneously.
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis for aid program development.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide insights to stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations and laws.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate intellectual property protection by reviewing invention disclosures.
  • Draft and prepare various administrative and IP-related documentation.
  • Monitor IP database for accuracy and integrity to satisfy deadlines.
