Job summary

JOHNLEONARD is seeking an IP Administrator (Patent) to support attorneys and clients in domestic patent prosecution. Location options include Boston, MA; New York, NY; or Washington, DC with hybrid or remote arrangements based on location.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of patent prosecution experience, strong organizational skills, and exceptional attention to detail in a team-based, service-oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years domestic patent prosecution experience required.
  • Experience in a law firm preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of patent prosecution terminology and workflow.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file domestic patent prosecution documents with the USPTO.
  • Maintain patent dockets, ensuring accuracy and timely deadlines.
  • Organize and safeguard electronic files and intellectual property records.
  • Review and process incoming correspondence and client instructions according to firm policies.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, clients, and internal departments to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite and IP management software to handle filings, correspondence, and reports.
  • Conduct research using resources like the USPTO website, firm intranet, and MPEP.
  • Provide practice support and administrative assistance to attorneys and clients.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members when needed.
  • Participate in special projects, pilot programs, and technology implementations

Salary Range: $91,000-$101,300

Schedule: Full-time | Monday-Friday
