We are hiring an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field Engineers in Presales and Professional Services. The role involves solution architecture, design, and delivery to customers.

Location: This is a remote role, managing a team in one of three Geos: Americas, EMEA, or APAC. You must be located in one of these regions to oversee the team spanning multiple time zones.

Our IoT mission is to enable companies to develop secure, connected device fleets. Canonical provides the Ubuntu OS and kernel, with secure update and management mechanisms. Our customers create mission-critical control systems, gateways, and appliances that meet high security and quality standards. We aim to extend this security to the consumer electronics and device markets.

Our Field Engineers are thought leaders in embedded Linux strategy and delivery, passionate about solving complex problems and helping customers achieve technical and business goals. They advocate for open source and connected devices, focusing on edge compute. They also mentor colleagues to deepen their technical understanding, manage time effectively, and understand customer business needs for continuous improvement.

This role requires a blend of skills. Successful candidates will have strong Linux knowledge, proficiency in coding and scripting, experience with low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, and embedded software development methodologies. They should thrive in dynamic environments and be motivated by ambitious technological and entrepreneurial projects. They are business-oriented, collaborative, and proud of team and company successes.

The role entails:

• Leading and developing a team of Field Engineers across Presales and Professional Services
• Solving customer problems by promoting our technologies and acting as a trusted advisor
• Working remotely within a single major time zone
• Coaching, mentoring, and providing career development feedback
• Monitoring team health indicators
• Implementing disciplined engineering processes
• Representing your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers
• Developing and promoting best engineering and organizational practices
• Planning and managing progress on goals and projects
• Participating actively in leadership and collaboration with other teams

Qualifications include:

• Strong academic record from high school and university
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Extensive embedded Linux experience (Yocto or similar)
• Deep Linux experience (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
• Proficiency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
• Experience managing small teams
• Customer engagement experience
• Professional proficiency in English
• Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
• Result-oriented with a drive to meet commitments
• Ability to communicate technology benefits to business audiences
• Quick learner and humble in approach

Desirable traits include RTOS experience, multilingual skills, and experience working in remote, diverse, distributed teams.
