We are hiring an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services, assisting customers with solution architecture, design, and delivery.

Location

This is a remote role, managing a team in one of three Geos: Americas, EMEA, or APAC. You must be located in one of these regions to manage the respective team.

Role Overview

Our IoT mission is to enable companies to create secure connected devices. Canonical provides the Ubuntu OS and kernel, with secure update and management mechanisms. Our customers develop mission-critical control systems, gateways, and appliances that require high security and quality standards.

The Field Engineers are technical leaders helping customers solve complex problems, with expertise in embedded Linux strategy and delivery. They are passionate about helping customers achieve technical and business goals, advocating for open source and edge computing solutions. They also mentor colleagues to deepen their technical skills and understanding of customer business needs.

Responsibilities

1. Lead and develop a team of Field engineers in Presales and Professional Services
2. Assist customers with solution architecture and problem-solving
3. Manage a remote team across different time zones
4. Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback
5. Monitor team health indicators and implement engineering processes
6. Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
7. Promote best engineering and organizational practices
8. Plan and track progress on goals and projects
9. Collaborate with leadership teams

Qualifications

1. Strong academic background from high school and university
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
3. Extensive embedded Linux experience (e.g., Yocto)
4. Proficiency in Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
5. Fluency in Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
6. Experience managing small teams
7. Experience engaging with customers
8. Professional proficiency in English
9. Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, accountability
10. Result-oriented with a drive to meet commitments
11. Ability to communicate technological benefits to business stakeholders
12. Quick learner and humble attitude

Desirable Traits

RTOS experience, additional programming languages, and experience working in remote, diverse, distributed teams are a plus.
