Job summary

SmartStructures is seeking an Instrumentation & IoT Operations Manager to lead development, QA, and field deployment of embedded monitoring systems for critical infrastructure. You will coordinate field installations, troubleshoot on-site issues, and manage vendor relationships while ensuring quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires hands-on experience with embedded hardware, DFx principles, and lean manufacturing, with travel to client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
• 5+ years in operations, product development, or field engineering.
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems and sensor hardware.
• Familiarity with Poka-Yoke, DFA, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Experience managing vendor relationships, including pricing negotiations.
• Willingness to travel for field installations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development, QA, and field deployment of embedded monitoring solutions.
• Coordinate field installations, unit prep, RF connectivity, and software debugging.
• Support IT/workstation operations and vendor/SLA issues.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, vendors and customers.
• Develop and maintain assembly work instructions and quality checklists.
• Establish and manage barcode-based inventory and supplier pricing processes.
