Job summary

Itron in Liberty Lake, WA is seeking a Software Quality Engineer to run our device lab and validate DEM software against hardware. You will configure a wide range of devices, including thermostats and DERs, and ensure proper connectivity, access, and lab readiness across teams.

You will develop manual test plans, execute tests, document defects, and help drive product quality in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This on-site role includes some remote access setup and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years in software quality assurance, testing, or related field.
• Experience with test case creation, execution and defect reporting.
• Basic familiarity with Linux and Git.
• Hands-on device setup and troubleshooting ability.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory devices (e.g., smart thermostats, DERs).
• Install and maintain lab networking infrastructure and connectivity.
• Collaborate across IT, networking, security and engineering teams to ensure device access and lab readiness.
• Test new/prototype hardware with DEM software and coordinate assembly/validation.
• Maintain remote access capabilities and monitor lab operations for hours across time zones.
• Develop and execute manual test plans and report defects for root-cause analysis.
• Communicate results and risks; participate in reviews and quality planning.
• Support agile sprint activities and continuously improve product quality.
