Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking an experienced iOS engineer to join the Maps Mobile Platform. You will design and maintain the Maps API layer and Map Display SDK powering geospatial experiences across Rider, Driver, and Eats apps.

You will craft ergonomic APIs, collaborate with multiple teams, and write robust Swift and Objective-C with strong test coverage for a stable, scalable mobile platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering shipping iOS apps or frameworks.
• Strong CS fundamentals across data structures, algorithms, concurrency and system design.
• Proficiency in Swift and Objective-C, with deep knowledge of the iOS SDK, runtime, and memory management.
• Experience writing testable, production-ready code with comprehensive unit/integration tests.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the Maps API layer and Map Display SDK for all iOS geospatial experiences.
• Architect intuitive APIs enabling product engineers to ship map features safely and rapidly.
• Collaborate with Rider, Driver, and Eats teams to address developer pain points and drive platform innovations.
• Write robust Swift and Objective-C code with focus on stability, backwards compatibility, and test coverage.
• Diagnose, profile, and resolve complex platform-level regressions, memory leaks, and concurrency challenges.
• Participate in design discussions and code reviews to elevate engineering excellence.
