Job summary

American Family Insurance seeks a Mobile iOS Engineer to support Omni-Channel strategy, focusing on self-service features for policyholders. You will collaborate across design to production observability and report to the Senior Manager, Engineering.

This hybrid role requires approx. 10 days per month in Madison or Boston, with relocation support available. You will contribute to architecture, testing, and documentation while improving customer experience.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience developing customer-driven iOS applications using Swift.
• Proven ability to apply iOS application architecture patterns (MVVM/MVC) to build scalable and maintainable code.
• Demonstrated experience integrating with REST APIs and third-party SDKs.
• Demonstrated experience translating feature requirements and design mockups into functional and maintainable iOS application code.
• Solid knowledge of modern mobile development lifecycle, including version control with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and the App Store release process.
• A strong commitment to quality, demonstrated by writing unit tests (XCTest), participating in code reviews, and debugging effectively within Xcode.
• Travel requirements up to 5%.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop solutions to required quality standards per guidelines and controls.
• Understand system dependencies and impacts of changes on supporting applications.
• Follow through with options and recommendations.
• Provide documentation for design decisions, estimates, code modules, and performance metrics.
• Define, conduct, and participate in testing (unit, system integration).
• Collaborate on system flow, data usage, and processes to verify requirements.
• Ensure software development meets standards for programming, design, performance, quality, and security.
• Participate in team activities and take on additional work to achieve goals.
• Create, maintain, and enhance system documentation.
