Who You’ll Work With:

AllianceBernstein’s Insurance team is seeking an Investment Strategist, reporting to the Head of Allocation and Strategy. This person will support the Portfolio Managers in the Allocation and Strategy team on holistic portfolio strategy, cutting-edge investment solutions, and capital-adjusted relative value frameworks tailored for AllianceBernstein’s global insurance clients.

The candidate will also work closely with members of the Insurance Portfolio Management team and Insurance Client Advisors to achieve client objectives. Additionally, the candidate will partner with investment professionals dedicated to both public and private asset classes in designing tailored insurance solutions for our clients. This role offers comprehensive exposure to all aspects of asset management. The candidate must work well in a team-based environment and will be part of the broader AB Insurance team.

What You’ll Do:

The Allocation and Strategy team acts as the primary investment contact for AB Insurance clients and advisors, owns tactical asset allocation and thematic positioning across insurance portfolios, and is responsible for portfolio performance relative to client objectives and risk levels, as well as creating bespoke investment solutions. A successful candidate will:

1. Aid in enhancing and streamlining the cross-sector optimization process.
2. Take ownership of the relative value framework, including maintenance and innovation of relative value tools, and lead meetings where the portfolio management team discusses and debates cross-sector relative value.
3. Develop and maintain tools to track and analyze insurance client portfolio strategies.
4. Assist in conducting analysis for thought leadership pieces.
5. Support in developing and analyzing liability-driven investment solutions for insurance clients, providing detailed analysis and recommendations to meet client objectives.
6. Support portfolio managers in ad hoc client requests, including commentaries on markets, portfolio strategies, and risk exposures.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in insurance asset allocation, investment analysis, or a related field within an asset management firm, insurance company, investment bank, or consulting firm.
• Basic understanding of US and global capital markets, public and private fixed income instruments, insurance regulations, and investment accounting.
• Strong passion for capital markets and solving complex problems.
• High level of technical skills (Python, R, Excel, Power BI).
• Understanding of insurance company regulations across various regimes; statutory and GAAP insurance investment accounting, and risk management frameworks.
• Client-focused with a history of developing relationships with new and existing clients.
• Ability and willingness to design, implement, and utilize systematic quantitative tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent time and project management skills.
• Detail-oriented, service-oriented, and self-directed.
• Team-oriented, emphasizing a collegial culture as a cornerstone of its success.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and/or CFA/FSA certifications are a plus.

In accordance with applicable law, the salary range for this role is:

Base Salary Range: $125,000 to $150,000
