Job summary

Smith Arnold Partners is partnering with a Boutique Technology Investment Banking platform focused exclusively on Technology M&A. The firm aims to add two Associates at levels I or II to support growing deal flow in the San Francisco area.

The Associate role requires 3–4 years of investment banking or corporate advisory experience, with a preference for tech M&A exposure and a strong financial modeling skillset. Travel may be required as needed by clients.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 3–4 years of relevant investment banking or corporate advisory experience, preferably with M&A focus.
• Tech M&A experience is a plus; buy-side and sell-side exposure valued.
• Licenses such as Series 7, 79 & 63 are preferred.
• Willingness to travel as needed by clients.

Responsibilities

• Get deal reps to be well positioned in order to maybe become a sector expert in the future.
• Work hand in hand with the senior and junior members of the firm.
• Continuously grow market intel in the tech M&A sector.
• Advise on Buy/Sell side M&A activities, structure deals, engage in due diligence.
• Be an expert in financial models across all deal types, M&A financing.
• Mentorship to junior bankers (peers and analysts).
• Demonstrate enthusiasm for the tech industry and track record in tech sub-sectors helps.
• Tech software or tech services M&A experience is a plus.

They have deep niched advisory focused across the vertical tech space including GRC, Marketing Technology, OCFO and Travel Tech. The firm has immense deal flow and they are looking to bring on two Associated in the near term.

Title: Technology Investment Banking – Associate (level I or level II)

Salary: $175,000k or $200,000 + Bonus

Responsibilities:

• Get deal reps to be well positioned in order to maybe become a sector expert in the future
• Work hand in hand with the senior and junior members of the firm

• Be an expert in Financial Models in all deal types, M&A/financing

• Enthusiastic about the Tech Industry, being an enthusiast in any sub sector will help you stand out as a candidate
• Tech/Software focused or Tech Services focused M&A experience is a plus with a track record of closed deals, not 100% necessary but it is helpful

Requirements:

• BA/BS with a major in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field
• Anywhere between 3 yrs – 4 yrs of relevant experience, only Banking or combination of Investment Banking and Corporate Advisory, prefer to have all exp with IB firms with an emphasis on M&A deals
• Nice to have a Tech IB industry background
• Sell side M&A Exp is a must from buy-side & sell side
• Clear communication skills, both written/verbal
• Licenses preferred are Series 7, 79 & 63
• Open to travel as needed by clients
• Minimum 2 to 3 yrs of Investment Banking experience is ideal
