X4 Engineering, Houston-based, is seeking a Power Associate to support the acquisition, underwriting and long-term management of power generation assets. You will work with senior deal professionals and the leveraged finance team across the full investment lifecycle, from initial acquisition to ongoing asset management.

The role emphasizes building models, evaluating power economics and assisting with financing structures to drive portfolio value, while developing expertise across deal execution

Competenze

• 4–5 years of relevant experience, ideally within investment banking.
• Background in Power & Utilities, Energy or Project Finance investment banking.
• Strong financial modelling and transaction execution experience.
• Exposure to natural gas-fired generation (CCGTs, peaking plants, tolling).
• Understanding of power markets; ERCOT or energy-only market experience advantageous.

I'm working on an exciting opportunity for a Power Associate to join a growing energy investment platform, supporting the acquisition, underwriting and long-term management of power generation assets.

This is an opportunity to join an entrepreneurial investment team, working closely with senior deal professionals and the leveraged finance team across the full investment lifecycle, from initial acquisition and transaction execution through to ongoing asset management.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will play an important role in evaluating and executing investments across the power generation sector, with a particular focus on natural gas-fired generation assets.

Responsibilities will include:

• Building and maintaining acquisition, valuation and investment models.
• Analysing power generation economics, including dispatch, spark spreads, heat rates, contracted and merchant revenues.
• Developing financial sensitivities, scenario analysis and investment return assessments (IRR / MOIC).
• Supporting debt sizing, financing structures and transaction execution alongside the leveraged finance team.
• Leading aspects of due diligence, coordinating third-party advisers and preparing investment committee materials.
• Monitoring portfolio company and asset performance against original investment assumptions.
• Supporting refinancing, re-underwriting and broader portfolio strategy decisions.

What We're Looking For

• Approximately 4–5 years of relevant experience, ideally within investment banking.
• Background in Power & Utilities, Energy or Project Finance investment banking.
• Strong financial modelling and transaction execution experience, with independent ownership of models across multiple live transactions.
• Exposure to natural gas-fired generation, including CCGTs, peaking plants or tolling structures, is highly desirable.
• Understanding of power markets, with ERCOT or other energy-only market experience particularly advantageous.
• Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills.
• An interest in developing a career spanning both investment execution and long-term asset management.
