Qualifications

• Two years of work experience with financial modeling and valuation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate business plans and provide feedback to senior management
• Assist senior management in due diligence and investment analysis
• Build and sensitize detailed financial models
• Prepare investment memoranda for approval from the Partnership Fund board
• Draft and execute deal documents with senior management and pro bono legal assistance
• Monitor financial and qualitative performance of portfolio companies and inform senior management
• Update financial models and reports of portfolio companies
• Contribute to building the organization
• Conduct outreach to build the Fund’s network and to source potential companies for direct investments and the Fund’s innovation labs
• Represent the Fund at conferences and events

The Partnership Fund for New York City is an impact fund dedicated to mobilizing private sector resources and expertise to advance New York City’s standing as a global center of economic opportunity, upward mobility, and innovation. Founded in 1996 by Henry Kravis, the Fund serves as the investment arm of the Partnership for New York City and has invested over $200 million since its inception. About this Role

This is a unique opportunity to gain exposure to public sector innovation, mission-focused venture investments, and public-private community development while working with a team committed to advancing New York City’s economic future. Investment Associates at the Partnership Fund are integrally involved in every aspect of the organization’s work, from investment review and portfolio monitoring to researching new initiatives and expanding the Fund’s network. Through this position, Associates gain exposure to a wide range of mission-aligned companies, projects, and initiatives while developing deep expertise in venture capital and impact investing. This is a 2–3-year position requiring on-site presence 4 days per week.

• Build and sensitize detailed financial models
• Prepare investment memoranda for approval from the Partnership Fund board
• Draft and execute deal documents with senior management and pro bono legal assistance
• Monitor financial and qualitative performance of portfolio companies and keep Partnership Fund senior management informed
• Update financial models and reports of portfolio companies
• Contribute to building the organization
• Conduct outreach to build the Fund’s network and to source potential companies for direct investments and the Fund’s innovation labs
• Represent the Fund at conferences and events
• Conduct research in support of the Fund’s initiatives and innovation labs

Requirements

• At least two years’ work experience involving in-depth financial modeling and corporate valuation (most commonly investment banking, but can be other roles with demonstrated financial experience)
• Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to understand business issues
• Exemplary written communication skills and interpersonal and verbal skills
• Interest and/or experience using AI tools related to making and monitoring investments
• Strong commitment to social impact and entrepreneurship and to the Fund’s double bottom line mission
