Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required in economics, finance, business, mathematics, or computer science.
  • 0.5 year to 1 year experience in an investment office setting with portfolio management.
  • Knowledge of portfolio management across multiple asset classes.
  • Aspiration to complete the CFA designation.
  • Ability to learn multidisciplinary subjects quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research supporting the investment program.
  • Assist in onboarding and maintaining custodian systems and portfolio software.
  • Attend fund manager meetings, take notes, ask thoughtful questions.
  • Prepare diligence notes and analyze investment strategy and track records.
  • Prepare presentation materials for Investment Committee stakeholders.
  • Aggregate portfolio data to design exposure reports.
  • Research sectors to form investment theses.
  • Coordinate month-end closing and reconciliation with custodians.
  • Monitor investments and prepare quarterly performance analyses.
  • Prepare subscription documents and monitor capital calls and distributions.

Investment Analyst – Overview

The Investment Analyst will support Liberty University’s Chief Investment Officer and the investment team in managing the endowment assets. The analyst will develop generalist skills across Public Equity, Fixed Income, Real Estate, and Alternatives by supporting investment research, reporting, performance measurement, and special projects. The role includes travel for onsite diligence, industry conferences, and relationship development. The analyst is expected to participate actively in the Lynchburg community and university on‑campus activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research supporting the investment program.
  • Assist in onboarding and maintaining the custodian system, portfolio management software, and data management systems, keeping records accurate and up to date.
  • Attend and participate in fund manager meetings, record notes, and ask thoughtful questions.
  • Assist senior team members in sourcing and evaluating prospective fund managers, preparing diligence notes, and analyzing investment strategy, process, organization, portfolio positions, competitive landscape, and track record.
  • Prepare presentation materials for stakeholders such as the Investment Committee.
  • Aggregate portfolio and index data to design portfolio exposure reports.
  • Research industry sectors to form investment theses.
  • Work closely with the custodian bank on month‑end closing and reconciliation, preparing customized performance reports.
  • Monitor existing investments, review quarterly letters and manager correspondence, and prepare quarterly performance analysis.
  • Prepare subscription documents, coordinate Limited Partnership Agreement reviews, and monitor capital calls and distributions.
  • Provide monthly cash‑flow updates and contribute to ad‑hoc projects improving investment process, monitoring, and operations.
  • Collaborate with university departments such as accounting and legal, assist with auditors and regulatory agencies’ information requests.
  • Actively participate in Lynchburg community and on‑campus activities.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies and represent the university exemplarily.

Working Conditions

The working environment is a climate‑controlled, well‑lit, and moderately noisy setting, with occasional outdoor events for gatherings and meetings.

Pay and Benefits

Annual salary range: $65,000.00 – $80,000.00. The position may be eligible for comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and tuition assistance.
