Job description

The investment analyst will partner with others on the Workplay team to advise the family’s principal on investments across numerous asset classes, including public equities, fixed income, and alternative assets (e.g., venture capital, private equity, hedge funds, real estate, and fund-of-funds investment vehicles). This role will also support direct investments in early-stage technology companies (e.g., AI/ML, consumer internet, gaming), real estate holdings, and crypto-assets. The needs of our firm are dynamic and constantly evolving, and this role will have the opportunity to spearhead new investments and initiatives.

Responsibilities

The Investment Analyst will play a central role on a small, cross-functional team that sources, analyzes, recommends, and manages the family office’s investments.

1. Early-stage, growth, and public equity investing: Analyze and evaluate potential investment opportunities across various asset classes; develop financial models, conduct due diligence, and perform risk assessments to support decision-making processes.
2. Monitor existing portfolio investments: Conduct regular performance reviews and manage diversified investment portfolios.
3. Collaborate with the team to develop and refine investment strategies.
4. Conduct market research to identify economic and technical trends.
5. Maintain and cultivate relationships with leading incubators, VCs, and PE firms to source new opportunities.
6. Liaise with lawyers, trustees, accountants, real estate brokers, and other external advisors involved in various strategies and initiatives.
7. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
