  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Coursework or professional experience involving financial statement analysis, corporate finance, investments, accounting, economics, and valuation.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Excel and financial modeling. Comfort with LLMs and other AI tools to make investment research and analysis more effective
  • Sound ethics and integrity. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, pride in and ownership of work product. Willingness to form and communicate an independent point of view while remaining open to challenge and new information.
  • Interest in pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program or the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) program.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the greater Omaha area with our home office as your primary place of work.
  • Access to high-speed internet and able to work remotely, if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new investment opportunities across private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and private credit by reviewing investment materials, conducting industry and market research, analyzing financial information, and assessing key investment risks and return drivers. Perform financial and qualitative analysis appropriate to the opportunity, including company, fund, portfolio, capital structure, valuation, and scenario analysis.
  • Monitor existing portfolio investments and track market, sector, and macroeconomic developments that may impact performance.
  • Participate actively in investment discussions, ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions, and contribute independent perspectives as knowledge and experience develop.
  • Develop investment recommendations, internal materials, and documentation supporting underwriting and ongoing portfolio management.

The Investment Management Operation is responsible for managing over $50 billion of general account assets and utilizes a sophisticated cross-asset strategy to fulfill the needs of the company’s diverse array of insurance products and their customers.

We are seeking an Investment Analyst or Investment Associate to join the Alternative Investments team, investing across private equity, real estate, infrastructure, and private credit strategies. This role provides broad exposure to private markets and the opportunity to develop as an investor by evaluating new opportunities, monitoring existing investments, conducting market and manager research, and participating in investment discussions and portfolio decisions

The ideal candidate has a strong interest in investing, a foundational understanding of finance and accounting, and a desire to develop the analytical judgment required to invest in private markets. Prior private markets experience is helpful but not required. More important are intellectual curiosity, analytical ability, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to learn.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
  • Estimated Salary (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications)
    • Investment Analyst: $75,000 - $95,000, plus annual bonus opportunity
  • 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
