CNO Financial Group, Inc. invites applications for an Investment Accounting Intern.

The program runs May 17 through August 06, 2027, offering hands-on exposure to investment accounting, data validation, and financial reporting within a supportive, learning-focused environment. Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, be rising juniors or seniors, and be available for 40 hours per week over 10–12 weeks.

Qualifications

• Progress toward a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.
• Rising junior or rising senior with graduation dates around Dec 2027–June 2029.
• Availability to work 40 hrs/week for 10–12 weeks during the summer.
• Preference for candidates in Central or Eastern US time zones or willing to work those hours.

Responsibilities

• Learn investment accounting processes, regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
• Assist data entry, validation, and maintenance in the investment subledger database.
• Help prepare monthly/quarterly workpapers and supporting documentation for financial reporting and reconciliations.
• Support implementation and optimization of the Singularity investment accounting system.
• Participate in quality control to verify data accuracy and completeness.
• Analyze data to improve organization and reporting efficiencies.
• Assist with cash balancing activities and account reconciliations.

Investment Accounting Intern

Core responsibilities and deliverables

• Collaborate with team members to learn investment accounting processes, industry regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
• Gain exposure to investment accounting systems, including assisting with data entry, validation, and maintenance within the investment subledger database.
• Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly workpapers and supporting documentation for financial reporting and account reconciliations.
• Support the pre/post implementation and ongoing optimization of the Singularity investment accounting system through testing, data validation, and process documentation.
• Participate in quality control activities by helping verify the accuracy and completeness of investment accounting data.
• Analyze data from the new system to improve data organization, create control and reporting efficiencies.
• Conduct basic analysis of account balances and variances and document findings for review by senior team members.
• Support team members with cash balancing activities, including researching suspense transactions, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial reporting schedules.

What you need (Minimum requirements)

• Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.
• Status as a rising junior or rising senior, approx. graduation dates of December 2027-June 2029.
• Availability to work 40 hrs/week for 10-12 weeks during the summer.
• Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours.

What will set you apart (Preferred experience)

• Prior internship experience.
• Balancing education and a part time job during the school year.
• Demonstrated interest in investments, financial markets, and investment accounting through coursework, projects, internships, or extracurricular activities.
• Hands‑on experience with AI and desktop data visualization/business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, advanced Excel, etc).
• Participation with university clubs.

CNO 2027 internship program will run May 17 through August 06, 2027.
