Job summary

CNO Financial Group, Inc. is offering a paid Tax Intern position to assist the Tax team with day-to-day tasks including data gathering for quarterly provisions and tax returns.

The internship runs May–August 2027, requiring 40 hours/week for 10–12 weeks. Ideal candidates are accounting students in the Central/Eastern US time zones, with prior internship experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• Rising junior or senior, approx. graduation Dec 2027–Jun 2029.
• Able to work 40 hrs/week for 10-12 weeks during the summer.
• Located in Central or Eastern US time zone preferred or able to work Central/Eastern hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist Tax team with data gathering for quarterly tax provision and return preparation.
• Organize and review information used in state and federal tax filings under guidance.
• Research tax questions and compile information for responding to taxing authorities.
• Maintain tax depreciation schedules and supporting workpapers for analyses.
• Review invoices and documentation for tax reporting and deductibility.
• Perform data entry, validation, and reconciliation for tax processes.

The Memorial Day and 4th of July holidays are paid days off. CNO Financial Group is hiring a Tax Intern to work alongside our Tax associates with professional day‑to‑day work within the department.

Core responsibilities and deliverables:

• Assist the Tax team with gathering data and supporting documentation for quarterly tax provision and tax return preparation.
• Help organize and review information used in state and federal tax filings under the guidance of experienced team members.
• Support the team by researching tax‑related questions and compiling information needed to respond to taxing authority inquiries.
• Assist with maintaining tax depreciation schedules and preparing supporting workpapers for tax account analyses.
• Review invoices and expense documentation to help identify information needed for tax reporting and deductibility assessments.
• Perform data entry, validation, and reconciliation activities to support tax compliance and reporting processes.

What you need (Minimum requirements):

• Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline.
• Status as a rising junior or rising senior, approx. graduation dates of December 2027‑June 2029.
• Availability to work 40 hrs/week for 10-12 weeks during the summer.
• Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours.

Work and location:

CNO supports a flexible work environment and encourages Associates to work where they are most productive. This position may work fully remote from any US‑based location, provided they are able to work Central or Eastern Time hours. All work must be performed within the United States, and occasional travel to corporate offices may be required. Associates living within 60 miles of a corporate office (Carmel, IN; or Chicago, IL) have access to work from that location as needed.
