Job summary

NEWSWELL at Arizona State University is seeking an audience producer to amplify statewide investigative reporting and broaden audience impact. You will help identify opportunities, guide workflows, and document impact while promoting the work across platforms and events.

You will collaborate with senior reporters and local newsrooms, bringing fresh ideas, teaching, and cooperative momentum to the role. Experience in California and on-camera work is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience reaching audiences across platforms and through direct outreach.
• Experience reporting, editing or producing in California and the West.

Responsibilities

• Support investigation outreach and project management across multi-month efforts.
• Build systems to deliver exclusive findings and measure civic impact.
• Mentor and coach local newsrooms and collaborate on reporting.
• Use multiple digital publishing formats and lead community events.
• Pilot tools, including responsible AI, to boost research and workflow.
• Partner with ASU and other institutions for student engagement and collaboration.
• Contribute to an inclusive newsroom culture focused on fairness and impact.
