Job summary

The Temporary Employee Relations Specialist (Investigations) at Seattle YMCA works under the Sr. HR Director of Employee Relations to ensure fair treatment of employees, handling investigations related to serious misconduct and advising on performance topics in line with policy and procedures.

The role is full-time, temporary through September 1, 2026, with hours Monday–Friday 8:30 am–5:30 pm and occasional evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of employee relations experience.
  • Current knowledge of employment law: Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, unemployment, and labor relations.
  • Excellent negotiation and confidentiality with sound judgment and equity.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues with organization and detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations into workplace misconduct, including discrimination, harassment and retaliation; draft summaries and termination proposals.
  • Consult with Legal to ensure proper investigation procedures and outcomes.
  • Provide guidance to managers on performance and conduct management in line with the Employee Handbook and values.
  • Maintain internal investigation tracker and complaint tracking system.
  • Maintain HR data systems and prepare timely reports.
  • Provide accurate legal and handbook information to staff; liaise with General Counsel when needed.
  • Provide conflict resolution support, including mediation and restorative/transformative justice.
  • Other duties as assigned.
