Job summary

SoFi is seeking an experienced Independent Risk Management Director to lead second-line risk oversight for the Invest business. The role focuses on broker-dealer and investment product risk, partnering with Compliance, and providing credible challenge to leadership.

The ideal candidate will oversee operational, fraud, technology, and product risk across launches, while guiding risk appetite and governance in a fast-growing financial services environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Risk Management, Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, Product Risk, Audit, Compliance, or related control functions.
• Demonstrated experience supporting brokerage, investment advisory, wealth management, digital investing, and/or securities businesses.
• Demonstrated experience providing independent oversight to senior business leaders.
• Experience leading cross-functional risk assessments and governance processes for complex financial services businesses.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the accountable 2LOD Risk Manager for the Invest business, maintaining an enterprise-wide view of Invest’s risk profile and control effectiveness.
• Become a trusted advisor to senior business leaders on risk implications of strategic decisions and product changes.
• Represent Independent Risk Management in executive forums related to Invest strategy and governance.
• Present risk assessments and recommendations to senior management committees, executive leadership, and Board-level forums.
• Oversee aggregate portfolio risk trends across operational, fraud, third party, technology, product, credit and model risk.
• Identify emerging risk trends and ensure timely root‑cause analysis and remediation actions.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, AML and other teams to optimize risk appetite and tolerance.
• Support post-launch reviews and continuous control enhancements as the business scales.
