Job summary

Qualifications

Inventory Supervisor
Position Summary

The Inventory Supervisor is responsible for leading and supervising the Inventory team to ensure inventory accuracy, availability, and optimization throughout the Distribution Center and associated off-site storage locations. This role oversees replenishment execution, inventory consolidation, slotting strategies, inventory reporting, and audit compliance to support operational excellence, improve fill rates, increase throughput, and maximize customer service levels.

The Inventory Supervisor works cross-functionally with Operations, Shipping, Receiving, and Planning teams to ensure products are accurately stored, replenished, and available to meet business and customer needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Execution
  • Lead daily inventory control activities across all distribution center locations.
  • Manage and prioritize replenishment activities to ensure product availability and support outbound order fulfillment.
  • Oversee inventory consolidation efforts to optimize storage capacity, improve inventory visibility, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain slotting strategies based on product velocity, order profiles, and operational requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and location utilization to maximize warehouse productivity and space utilization.
  • Ensure inventory remains accurate, available, and pickable to support service level objectives.
Inventory Management
  • Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counting programs, audits, reconciliations, and process controls.
  • Analyze inventory discrepancies and shrink trends, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate inventory performance metrics and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with inventory management procedures, policies, and best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory processes and warehouse operations.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Inventory Analysts and Inventory Control personnel.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, accountability standards, and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct training and provide ongoing development opportunities for inventory team members.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and workload prioritization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with warehouse operations, receiving, shipping, customer service, and planning teams to resolve inventory issues and improve workflow.
  • Support operational projects focused on throughput improvements, fill rate enhancement, and inventory optimization.
  • Serve as the primary inventory resource for distribution center leadership.
