Job summary

United Legwear & Apparel Co. is seeking an Inventory Control specialist to maintain accurate counts and oversee daily warehouse operations.

You will perform cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and generate reports to support inventory decisions in a fast-paced distribution center. Key duties include data analysis, cross-team communication with Sales, Operations, and Customer Service, and participation in process improvements to optimize accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of WMS and Microsoft Office suite.

  • Prepares reports with spreadsheets and pivot tables for daily/weekly reconciliations.
  • Conducts physical audits and assists with releasing customer orders and organizing inventory put-away.

Job description

  • Maintains and analyses daily inventory operations program using WMS, including cycle counts, physical counts, and reconciliations under the guidance of department leadership.
  • Analyzes and researches inventory levels, transaction errors, and shortages while reconciling inventory discrepancies by processing adjustments and providing root cause analysis, ensuring adherence to the approval matrix for first level investigations.
  • Monitors inventory levels and generates reports to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement while overseeing inbound and outbound inventory movements to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Responds accurately and timely to inventory-related inquiries and requests from Sales, Operations, and VP’s via telephone and email.
  • Processes and distributes reports consisting of spreadsheets and pivot tables created by the Analyst for inventory reconciliations including shortages, active waves and hold waves on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Conducts physical audits and ensure accuracy in inventory data while assisting with the releasing of customer orders, supporting value-added services (VAS) projects, and organizing inventory put-away.
  • Follows safety protocols throughout the facility while conducting physical cycle counts walking or driving heavy equipment.
  • Supports the department by cross-training with Lead on the assignment of work and can perform all work assignments while working effectively with colleagues across multiple departments including the replenishment team to manage inventory levels and resolve issues.
  • Performs any additional tasks as assigned to support company operations.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Collaborate with fellow team members including Material Handlers, PIT Operators, Leads, management, sales team, and Customer Service department to ensure accurate inventory management.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow team members and leaders to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely stock replenishment and accurate inventory data in the warehouse management system.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide input for process improvements.
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends and recommend improvements to inventory control processes.
  • Implement best practices for inventory management to minimize stock discrepancies and enhance efficiency.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of inventory KPIs and regularly review performance against targets.
  • Participate in training and implement learned objectives in all areas of the distribution center.
  • Maintain a competitive environment while fostering compliance initiatives which push fellow team members to rise to the challenge.

Education/Qualifications
  • REQUIRED
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Working knowledge of Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Microsoft Office suite.
    • Strong communication skills including the ability for speak, read, and write in English.
    • Ability to perform physical activity at a sustained pace including walking, bending, sitting, driving, and lifting within an automated distribution center environment.

    • Some college courses or associate degree.
    • Certification in Inventory Management (e.g., APICS CPIM).
    • Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
Experience
  • REQUIRED
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an inventory control positions within a distribution center.
    • Demonstrated computer and technical savvy including the ability to learn new programs and systems quickly including in house WMS.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed performance goals/metrics.
    • Demonstrated strong customer service, communications, and interpersonal skills with ability to collaboratively work as part of a team in a complex and fast paced workplace.
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and solve complex problems related to inventory management.
    • Exceptional precision in performing tasks, ensuring accuracy in inventory counts, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • PREFERRED
    • Proficiency and understanding of WMS systems and Microsoft computer applications.
    • Experience working in a fully automated distribution center in a clerical position.
