This hands-on role requires directing daily tasks, coordinating with Receiving/Shipping, and resolving discrepancies to prevent repeat issues.

You will oversee cycle counts, physical inventories, and data-driven improvements while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in a higher-level inventory control role.
  • 1+ year in a lead, trainer, or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Experience with inventory software and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Forklift certification is preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong typing and data-entry accuracy.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Inventory Specialist team's daily work and set priorities for counts and research tasks.
  • Train new and existing team members on counting procedures and system transactions.
  • Review and approve the team's count results, discrepancies, and adjustments.
  • Track KPIs and inventory accuracy metrics and provide input on performance.
  • Plan, schedule, and lead physical inventories, including staffing and recounts.
  • Collaborate with Receiving, Shipping, Operations, and Client Services to resolve discrepancies.
  • Oversee inventory transactions (receipts, adjustments, movements).
  • Analyze data to spot trends, share insights via reports.
  • Conduct regular audits and document processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Complete cycle counts and special count requests; reconcile differences.
  • Verify lot and expiration information; operate warehouse equipment as needed.

Jay Group is looking for an experienced inventory professional to lead our Inventory Specialist team. As the Inventory Control Supervisor, you'll direct the team's daily work and train and support its members. You'll also be the first person they turn to when inventory issues come up. This is a hands-on, working lead role. You'll perform all Inventory Specialist duties while helping keep our warehouse inventory accurate, well-tracked, and at the right levels.What You'll DoLead the Inventory Specialist team's daily work. This means assigning and prioritizing cycle counts, special counts, and research tasks so the team meets accuracy goals and deadlines.Train new and existing team members on counting procedures, reconciliation, system transactions, and safe equipment operation.Serve as the team's go-to resource and escalate issues to the Inventory Control Manager when needed.Review and approve the team's count results, discrepancies, and inventory adjustments before they're finalized.Track and report team productivity and inventory accuracy metrics (KPIs) and give the manager input on team member performance.Help plan, schedule, and lead physical inventories, including staffing, count assignments, and recounts.Partner with Receiving, Shipping, Operations, and Client Services to resolve discrepancies and prevent repeat issues.Oversee inventory transactions such as receipts, adjustments, and movements.Analyze inventory data to spot trends and discrepancies and share insights through inventory reports.Conduct regular inventory audits and develop and document processes that improve accuracy and efficiency.Complete system-generated cycle counts and special count requests.Reconcile count differences, including SKU changes.Verify lot and expiration information.Operate warehouse equipment, such as cherry pickers and forklifts, to perform daily dutiesSchedule: 1st Shift. Overtime is required as business needs require, especially during our peak season in November and December. Physical inventories may take place after scheduled hours, including weekends.RequirementsHigh School Diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.3–5 years of experience in a higher-level inventory control position.At least 1 year in a lead, trainer, or supervisory role is preferred.Experience with inventory software and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a must.Forklift or warehouse equipment certification is preferred.Experience in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment is a plus.Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a team. This includes delegating and prioritizing work, giving clear direction and feedback, and holding the team to standards.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.Strong typing and data-entry accuracy.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are a plus.Solid math skills, including percentages, ratios, and averages across all units of measure.Clear written and verbal communication with colleagues, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders.Physical DemandsYou'll regularly stand and use your hands and arms, and occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
