Job summary

Eastern Metal Supply, Inc. is seeking an experienced Inventory Supervisor to lead stock control, optimize processes, and drive accuracy across receiving, cycle counts, and outbound shipments.

You will work with Warehouse, Purchasing, Production, Logistics, and Finance to ensure timely replenishment, data integrity in the WMS, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has strong leadership, analytical skills, and a track record of reducing discrepancies while maintaining safety

Position Summary

Inventory Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in overseeing and managing inventory control operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, optimizing stock management processes, and leading the inventory team. The Inventory Supervisor works closely with Warehouse, Purchasing, Production, Logistics, and Finance teams to ensure inventory accuracy, efficient operations, and overall supply chain effectiveness. This position requires strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement.

• Supervise, lead, and develop inventory team members, including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management
• Train and onboard new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into inventory operations and company standards
• Retrain, coach, and continuously develop current associates to improve performance, productivity, accuracy, and engagement
• Oversee daily inventory operations, including stock tracking, receiving, shipping, and inventory transactions, to ensure accuracy and efficiency
• Develop, implement, and monitor inventory control procedures and best practices to optimize stock levels, reduce waste, and minimize discrepancies
• Monitor and analyze inventory levels and trends, using data to identify needs, forecast demand, and adjust inventory levels accordingly
• Coordinate with Purchasing and Production teams to ensure timely replenishment of inventory and prevent stockouts or overstock situations
• Conduct regular physical inventory counts, including cycle counts and full inventory audits, to verify inventory accuracy and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain accurate inventory records in the warehouse management system (WMS) or inventory software, ensuring data integrity and timely updates
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, returns, and other inventory-related issues in a timely manner
• Collaborate with Warehouse, Logistics, Purchasing, Production, and Finance teams to identify operational gaps and improve inventory processes
• Evaluate current inventory processes and recommend enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and productivity
• Prepare and review inventory reports, including stock levels, inventory turnover, discrepancies, and financial impacts, and communicate findings to management
• Lead and support inventory-related projects, process improvements, and new system or technology implementations
• Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and daily task assignments to optimize labor utilization
• Drive productivity, accountability, accuracy, and performance across the inventory operation
• Identify and communicate quality, housekeeping, and safety concerns and partner with leadership to implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards, including OSHA regulations
• Participate in and support safety meetings, training sessions, and accident prevention initiatives
• Promote a positive work environment by maintaining a professional attitude and serving as a role model for team members

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of inventory control processes, systems, and best practices
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in inventory management or inventory control, including at least one (1) to two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Warehouse and office environment with moderate to loud noise levels. This position regularly requires standing; walking; sitting; use of hands; reaching with hands and arms; and talking and/or hearing. The position may require occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and may require flexibility to work varied hours or shifts based on business needs.
