Job summary

Galleher Industries in Kaufman, TX is seeking an Inventory Specialist to ensure inventory accuracy and smooth material flow for metal and wood production. You will work closely with production, purchasing, and site leadership.

Responsibilities include receiving, inspecting, labeling, and put-away of materials; performing cycle counts; and maintaining NetSuite records. This in-person role requires forklift operation and a focus on safety.

Qualifications

• At least three years of experience in inventory control, shipping and receiving, quality, or manufacturing operations. Metal fabrication or lumber experience is preferred.
• At least three years of forklift experience, including loading and unloading trucks and handling long or bulky materials.
• Ability to read purchase orders, bills of lading, drawings, and product specifications and use measuring tools to perform basic inspections.
• Working knowledge of inventory and ERP systems. NetSuite experience is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, problem solving, and follow through, with the ability to manage changing priorities and communicate effectively.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer based warehouse transactions.

Responsibilities

• Receive and inspect raw materials, purchased components, finished goods, and customer returns and verify quantities, part numbers, purchase orders, bills of lading, condition, and quality.
• Report freight damage, shortages, and nonconforming material promptly and complete the required documentation for vendors, carriers, and internal follow up.
• Enter receipts accurately in NetSuite, include clear notes for Accounts Payable, and complete put away within 24 hours of arrival.
• Label, stage, and store materials in the correct locations, maintain clear identification, prevent mixed material, and verify that NetSuite locations match physical inventory.
• Perform cycle counts and approved inventory adjustments with supporting documentation and investigate discrepancies through resolution.
• Inspect incoming material, production output, and finished goods against drawings, specifications, samples, and customer requirements using appropriate measuring tools.
• Contain nonconforming material, maintain clear status identification, complete NCMR documentation, and coordinate disposition with site leadership.
• Verify part number, quantity, quality, packaging, labeling, and paperwork before shipment and coordinate priorities so loads are staged safely and ready on time.
• Inspect returned material and confirm condition and resale status before any customer credit is processed.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely while loading, unloading, moving, and staging metal and wood products.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse, staging, inspection, and inventory areas.

About the role

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for inventory accuracy, shipping and receiving execution, and quality control at our Kaufman operation. This role supports both metal and wood production by ensuring materials are received, inspected, identified, stored, issued, and shipped correctly. The Inventory Specialist works closely with production, purchasing, sales, and site leadership to protect product quality, maintain accurate NetSuite records, and keep material flowing efficiently to meet customer commitments.

• Cycle count discrepancies, shipping errors, and recurring quality issues are investigated and corrected at the source.
• Metal and wood production teams can trust material availability, inventory status, and location data.
• Warehouse and inventory areas remain safe, organized, labeled, and ready for daily operations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This is an in person role working primarily in warehouse, yard, and production environments with exposure to moving equipment, truck traffic, dust, temperature changes, and loud noise. The position requires extended standing and walking as well as frequent bending, reaching, climbing, and material handling. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently and wear required personal protective equipment.
