Job summary

Vaagen Bros. Lumber Inc. is seeking an Inventory Specialist to move parts between inventory locations, track service calls, and assist with receiving and stocking duties.

You will support inventory projects, audits, and process improvements while maintaining safety and productivity in a fast-paced environment. The role requires strong problem solving, solid computer and planning skills, and experience with CMMS and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Experience with inventory movements between sites and data entry.
• Ability to review inventory data, compel accuracy, and support audits.
• Familiarity with CMMS platforms and Microsoft Office required.
• Travel to Usk, WA site as needed.
• Lean techniques and safety procedures emphasized.

Vaagen Bros. Lumber Inc. is a family-owned wood products manufacturer that has operated in northeastern Washington for over 70 years. We heavily believe in continuous improvement and respect for people and are currently in a Lean transformation. We operate sawmills in Colville and Usk, WA. Vaagen Bros. currently employs over 175 employees.

The company is searching for a highly efficient and experienced individual to fill the role of Inventory Specialist. This position provides professional assistance to team members, vendors, and customersin a fast-paced environment that requires a high level of attention to detail, personal initiative, and ability to meet strict deadlines. This individual is responsible forthe movement of parts between inventory site locations, communicating inventory needs and adjustments, supporting special inventory projects, and assisting with inventory receiving functions with a continued focus on safety, and productivity. The desirable applicant will have a mindset of constant improvement and willingness to go above and beyond.

JOB DUTIES

• Assisting with data entry and tracking of service calls
• Reviewing service calls for accuracy and closing out accordingly
• Acting as a parts runner, retrieving inventory from multiple inventory sites or company locations
• Supporting inventory receiving functions, including verification of shipments and stocking as needed
• Support inventory organization projects and tasks
• Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to ensure data integrity and compliance
• Completing SOP’s for inventory and purchasing
• Know, Understand, and Apply the Lock-out Tag-out procedures
• Entry level laborer sawmill duties, including but not limited to, stacking boards, general cleanup, removal of wood waste and debris, and tending machines
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Ensure tools, supplies, and equipment are in their “home locations” at all times
• Maintain lines of communication with other team members
• Fill out a maintenance request and Idea Cards when needed
• Other duties as assigned

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Demonstrate problem solving and technical troubleshooting skills
• Strong computer, communication, planning, and organization skills
• Proficiency with CMMS software platforms (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, IBM Maximo, or similar) & Microsoft Suite
• Occasional travel to Usk, WA site as needed
• Ensure safe work practices & follow safety procedures
• Ability to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibility
• Lean techniques and experience preferred
• Must be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environment
• Must have HS Diploma/GED
• Must be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely. The weight required to be lifted each normal workday may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds at a time

HOURS/DAYS/SCHEDULE
