Job summary

City of Newton, NC is seeking a Warehouse Clerk to manage inventory, process requisitions, and handle purchasing tasks in the municipal storage facility.

You will stock, inspect, and enter items into the computer, coordinate with vendors, and support other departments while upholding safety and regulatory standards. A valid North Carolina driver's license and forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months) are required.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of modern storeroom and inventory practices
• Ability to accurately count and inspect stores and materials
• Ability to maintain physical inventories and match to computer records
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions
• Knowledge of municipal purchasing laws and regulations

Responsibilities

• Reviews inventory stock levels and determines commodities to be reordered
• Prepares quote sheets on commodities; faxes or mails quote sheets to vendors; receives quotes; analyzes quotes; awards purchase
• Prepares purchase requisitions; prepares purchase orders from requisitions; faxes or mails purchase orders to vendors; expedites orders
• Receives orders from common carrier or vendor delivery; inspects items for damage; updates inventory records
• Greets employees at window; records orders; distributes items; updates inventory
• Receives calls from employees and vendors; researches products; assists with supplier inquiries
• Maintains warehouse records; assists employees with products
• Cleans warehouse floor; unloads shipments; inspects and notifies departments of shipment
• Performs related tasks as required
