Job description

The Inventory Material Handler is responsible for efficiently and accurately handling the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and finished goods in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures that materials are properly stored, tracked, and moved to support the production process. The Material Handler plays a key role in inventory management, ensuring materials are available when needed, and helping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

·Material Handling:

oReceive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and products against purchase orders or delivery receipts.

oStore materials in appropriate locations within the warehouse or production area, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage.

oRetrieve and deliver materials to production lines or workstations as requested by production schedules.

oLoad and unload trucks, ensuring all materials are moved safely and efficiently.

oOperate material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks) in compliance with safety standards.

·Inventory Control:

oMaintain accurate inventory records by updating inventory management systems or manual logs.

oPerform routine inventory checks and cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.

oInvestigate discrepancies in inventory and assist with corrective actions.

oWork with the inventory control team to help maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce overstock or stockouts.

·Organization and Housekeeping:

oKeep the warehouse or storage areas clean, organized, and safe for all employees.

oFollow safety protocols and maintain equipment to minimize accidents and injuries.

oEnsure materials are stored in compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations.

·Documentation and Reporting:

oAccurately document material movements, such as receipts, transfers, and issues, using electronic or manual systems.

oReport any inventory shortages, damaged materials, or other issues to management.

oAssist in preparing inventory reports, helping with audits, and ensuring materials are available as needed for production schedules.

·Shipping and Receiving Support:

oAssist in preparing materials for outgoing shipments, ensuring proper labeling and packaging.

oPrepare materials for outbound deliveries based on production requirements and sales orders.

oCoordinate with shipping and receiving departments to facilitate smooth material flow.

·Collaboration:

oWork closely with production teams, warehouse staff, and procurement to ensure the timely availability of materials.

oCommunicate any potential material shortages or delays to the appropriate team members.

·Safety and Compliance:

oAdhere to company safety policies and OSHA regulations regarding material handling, storage, and equipment operation.

oEnsure materials are properly labeled, handled, and stored in compliance with relevant regulations.

oParticipate in safety training and meetings to ensure workplace safety standards are followed.

Qualifications:

·Education:

oHigh School Diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in material handling or forklift operation preferred.

·Experience:

oPrevious experience in inventory management or material handling in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred.

oFamiliarity with inventory control systems, material handling equipment, and safety standards.

oForklift certification (or willingness to obtain).

·Skills & Competencies:

oStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.

oAbility to operate material handling equipment safely (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.).

oGood communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

oAbility to lift and move materials (up to 50 lbs or more).

oProficient in basic math and the use of inventory management systems or spreadsheets.

·Certifications (optional but preferred):

oForklift Operator Certification (if required by local regulations or company policy).

oOSHA Safety Training or similar workplace safety certifications.

Physical Requirements:

·Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods of time.

·Must be able to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more).

·Regular use of material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).

Work Environment:

·Primarily warehouse-based, with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.

·Requires adherence to safety guidelines and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, gloves, and hard hats.

Expected Hours of Work
This is a Full-Time Hourly position required to work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.
