Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Sumter, SC is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to manage inventory records, coordinate material movements, and support warehouse operations. You will maintain accurate counts, generate reports, and collaborate with teams to optimize material flow.

The role requires forklift experience, reliability, and OT flexibility. Expect a 1st shift with overtime and opportunity for overtime hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a manufacturing facility, distribution center, or warehouse environment.
• Solid knowledge of parts systems, warehouse procedures, and inventory operations.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Computer literate (inventory software or spreadsheets is a plus).
• Strong reliability and a proven track record of good attendance.
• Ability to maintain highly accurate and complete records.
• Flexibility to work overtime (OT) when required.
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience operating stand-up and/or sit-down forklifts.

Responsibilities

• Compiles and maintains a database of inventory records including quantity, cost, and type of materials, equipment, merchandise, or supplies.
• Records the receipt or disbursement of inventory items and accurately computes balances.
• Compares digital inventory records against physical counts and thoroughly investigates any inaccuracies.
• Prepares inventory reports and recommends options for handling defective or unusable items.
• Stocks, organizes, and issues materials or merchandise as needed.
• Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near the plant, yard, or work site.
• Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to determine which materials or containers need to be moved.
• Opens containers safely using steel cutters, crowbars, clawhammers, or other hand tools.
• Conveys materials to and from storage or work sites to designated areas using hand trucks, stand-up forklifts, or sit-down forklifts.
