Job summary

Fresh Express Salads is seeking an Inventory Lead to coordinate shift activities, coach associates, and ensure accurate inventory postings in a fast paced environment in Streamwood, IL. The role partners with departments to optimize material flow and maintain safety and cleanliness standards on the warehouse floor.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of related experience, a High School diploma, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and AS 400/ PRMS.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of related experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the effective and efficient completion of shift duties in all areas assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient material flow.
  • Provide verbal coaching to associates to address performance issues.
  • Report operational and behavioral challenges to Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Access, interpret and apply all systems reporting information for the work area.
  • Provide training to Inventory associates on SOPs and procedures, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and address unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure breaks and shifts end on time; manage daily warehouse postings.
  • Coordinate cycle counting and verify high value items daily.
  • Coach and lead teams to improve Inventory practices and research variances.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and FE policies; report inventory levels to prevent shortages or surpluses.
  • Foster a positive and innovative work environment and drive continuous improvement.

Job description

Under the direction of the department Supervisor, the Inventory Lead coordinates activities and assigns specific tasks to a group of associates in a designated area in order to achieve production goals and maximize productivity.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversee the effective and efficient completion of shift duties in all areas assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Partners with other departments to ensure efficient flow of material.
  • Provides verbal coaching to associates to address operational performance issues.
  • Reports all operational and behavioral challenges to Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Able to access, interpret and accurately apply all systems reporting information related to the work area.
  • Provide training to Inventory associates in areas such as SOP's, job specific procedures, and filling out required documentation correctly. Ensure compliance to SOP's, Housekeeping, and all other FE policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by training personnel on safety issues, conducting safety huddles, completing safety accident and/or incident reports, and recognizing and correcting unsafe conditions or acts. Continuously maintain a clean work environment.
  • Ensure employees are taking their scheduled breaks/lunches and finishing their shift on time.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting and counts of all warehouses on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate essential warehouse duties such as accurate cycle counting, ensuring all voice shorts are cleared and acknowledged, and high value items are verified each day.
  • Ability to coach, train, and lead work teams to achieve performance as it relates to specialization to Inventory practices, warehouse posting, and detailed research on high variances.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy; report inventory levels to prevent shortages and excessive surplus.
  • Cultivate a positive and innovative work environment.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in a fast paced environment. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Capable of working in a cold (34 degrees F) and wet environment and be willing to work weekends.

Other Desired Qualifications/Skills:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and AS 400/ PRMS a plus
