Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly and quarterly inventory and balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities and warehouse locations.
• Reconcile inventory activity between physical inventory, NetSuite, and the general ledger, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate accounting records related to product receipts, shipments, transfers, returns, and other inventory movements.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.
• Assist with inventory valuation, obsolescence, and shrinkage analysis.
• Support accounting for intercompany inventory transactions and transfers.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Accounting to ensure inventory activity is reflected in financial statements.
• Assist with inventory-related reporting and external audit requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve inventory reconciliation, reporting, and ERP processes.
• Support special projects and other accounting initiatives as the business grows.

Position Overview

The Inventory/Cost Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate inventory accounting across multiple entities and warehouse locations. This position collaborates closely with Accounting, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to reconcile inventory activity and maintain compliance with financial reporting standards. The role offers exposure beyond traditional accounting, providing insight into operational processes and inventory management. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Reconcile inventory activity between physical inventory, NetSuite, and the general ledger, researching and resolving discrepancies.

Required Experience/Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong fundamental accounting background, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Experience with inventory accounting and/or cost accounting.
• Hands-on NetSuite experience is required.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to analyze data effectively.
• Ability to research discrepancies and understand operational impacts on financial statements.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.

Preferred Experience/Skills

• Experience within apparel, fashion, retail, e-commerce, or other inventory-driven consumer businesses.
• Exposure to intercompany transactions and multi-entity accounting.
• Familiarity with inventory valuation methods and ERP process improvements.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• CPA or progress toward certification is a plus but not required.
• Continuing education in inventory or cost accounting preferred.
• Advanced Excel or ERP training beneficial.
• Knowledge of GAAP principles and inventory accounting standards.
