Job Summary
Supervises and directs all activities and employees in Inventory Control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership and Management Responsibilities
Recruitment and Retention
- Recruit and interview Inventory Control staff.
- Communicate criteria to recruiters for Inventory Control position candidates.
- Coach Inventory Control staff in the interviewing/hiring process.
- Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.
Employee and Team Development
- Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
- Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.
- Coach and mentor Inventory Control staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
- Create and manage succession plans for Inventory Control function.
Performance Management
- Establish clear measurable goals and objectives to evaluate individual and team results.
- Solicit ongoing feedback from managers, peers, and team members; provide coaching based on feedback.
- Express pride in staff and encourage their accomplishments.
- Perform evaluations professionally and timely.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational metrics and organizational goals.
- Coordinate activities of large teams, especially during crises.
- Ensure fair and consistent recognition and rewards.
Communication
- Provide weekly forums for idea and information exchange.
- Organize ideas clearly using appropriate business style.
- Encourage input from staff and adapt communication styles as needed.
Functional Management Responsibilities
Business Strategy and Direction
- Understand campus strategic directions.
- Define and implement Inventory Control strategies aligned with campus goals.
- Provide regular updates on strategy execution.
Cost Management
- Identify ways to reduce costs through process improvements.
- Monitor departmental costs and trends.
- Provide feedback on cost trends to peers and management.
Technical Management Responsibilities
- Monitor department performance and implement improvements.
- Increase dock-to-stock material percentage.
- Optimize processing times and recommend recovery methods as needed.
- Maintain operational supplies and equipment.
- Ensure tools and equipment are in proper working order.
- Collaborate with other departments and support functions.
- Supervise shipment verification and record-keeping accuracy.
- Ensure correct parts are delivered to production.
- Promptly stock all materials and eliminate errors affecting performance.
- Recommend capital and human resource investments.
- Adhere to safety, health, and security policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge Requirements
- Ability to interpret scientific, financial, and legal documents.
- Effective communication skills, including presenting to top management.
- Advanced PC skills and knowledge of Jabil’s software.
- Mathematical and analytical skills.
- Understanding of global logistics and industry standards.
- Experience with change management and cost reduction initiatives.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; five years of experience or equivalent combination of education and training.
