About Operation Food Search: Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search is a hunger relief organization that provides food, nutrition education, and innovative programs to reduce food insecurity and increase equitable access to food. We serve 200,000 people every month through a network of 330 partners in 27 counties in Missouri and Illinois. Our approach combines immediate food assistance with supportive services and long-term systemic solutions.

Position Summary: The Inventory Control Specialist will assist with implementing a new inventory database, acting as a database superuser. This role involves tracking all donated and purchased goods, ensuring data accuracy, and collaborating across departments to meet inventory needs. Interest in data analysis and attention to detail are essential, along with understanding vendor, donor, and partner needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Inventory System Management: Serve as a superuser, maintain accurate records, troubleshoot issues, and develop system protocols and training.
  • Product Procurement and Coordination: Communicate with vendors, schedule deliveries, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Inventory Monitoring and Quality Control: Conduct audits, manage expired or damaged inventory, and monitor storage conditions.
  • Cross Departmental Collaboration: Work with internal teams to forecast needs, fulfill requests, and provide inventory insights.
  • Issue Resolution and Continuous Improvement: Investigate discrepancies, collaborate on system improvements, and support ongoing enhancements.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Data entry, document management, vendor inquiries, and staff training.
  • Back-Up to the Food Bank Operations Director: Manage receipts, ensure food safety policies, and conduct inspections.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years experience in inventory and database management.
  • Experience with warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail, strong communication, organizational skills, and computer proficiency.

Special Requirements:

  • Flexibility for occasional after-hours or weekend work.
  • Willingness to assist with other duties as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Work in food storage warehouses, including cooler and freezer environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and operate equipment.
