Position Summary:
The Inventory Control Specialist will maintain the organization’s inventory while working closely with the procurement team and warehouse staff to control the flow and maintain accurate records. The Inventory Control Specialist will have direct supervision over the warehouse staff.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles.
- Works with purchasing to ensure we maximize our ability to stock and store just in time inventory
- Assists and manages a cycle count program
- Ensures all adjustments made through cycle count program have been thoroughly vetted before locking in
- Successfully manage a team of material handlers
- Establish KPI’s around productivity within the material handling group and ensure team is functioning at high productivity levels
- Work with finance to issue material ahead of job start to maximize cash flow
. - Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
- Provides inventory reports to purchasing and finance.
- Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made.
- Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing or finance.
- Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.
- Operates forklift truck when necessary.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
- Ability to travel.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with computerized inventory systems required.
- Supervisor experience preferred.
- Forklift operator certification preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, developing professional relationships with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
- Proficient understanding of inventory control procedures.
- Proficient PC skills including Office Suite
- Extremely organized, careful attention to detail and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
- Able to sit for prolonged periods at a time.
- Able to navigate the warehouse while moving and lifting top/lower stocked items up to 40 pounds.
- Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunity.
- Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus
