JOB OVERVIEW

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and traceability of inventory across FTAI’s local stockrooms and operating locations. This role focuses on executing and managing cycle count activities, reconciling physical inventory to system records, and conducting detailed investigations to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies.

The Inventory Control Specialist works closely with Materials, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and local stockroom personnel to ensure inventory is properly received, stored, transferred, issued, and accounted for throughout the inventory lifecycle. The role requires a understanding of inventory control principles and the unique traceability, documentation, and configuration requirements associated with aviation and CFM56 engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations.

The position serves as a key point of contact for local inventory discrepancies and is responsible for identifying root causes, documenting findings, implementing corrective actions, and escalating unresolved issues when appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute and coordinate routine cycle counts across local FTAI stockrooms and inventory locations using established ABC and risk-based counting procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records by reconciling physical quantities to system-of-record balances.
  • Investigate inventory variances, shortages, overages, misplaced material, and unexplained inventory movements to determine root cause and final disposition.
  • Trace inventory through receiving, inspection, storage, transfers, kitting, issuance, repair, engine shop activity, and return-to-stock processes to determine where discrepancies occurred.
  • Conduct recounts and detailed transaction reviews when discrepancies are identified and ensure variances are properly documented and resolved.
  • Identify patterns of inventory loss, recurring discrepancies, process breakdowns, and control weaknesses and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure inventory adjustments are properly supported, documented, approved, and processed in accordance with company procedures and internal controls.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy metrics and identify opportunities to improve stockroom processes and inventory integrity.
  • Support inventory control requirements associated with CFM56 engine modules, components, piece parts, rotables, repairables, consumables, and engine hardware.
  • Maintain segregation and control of material placed on quality, technical, or inventory hold and ensure inventory is not released without appropriate authorization.
  • Partner with Materials, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to identify the source of discrepancies and establish corrective actions.
  • Escalate unresolved, high-value, recurring, or compliance-related discrepancies to appropriate leadership.
  • Support perpetual cycle count, physical inventories and special inventory projects as required.
  • Partner with stockroom, inspection and the repairs team to ensure parts continue to cycle through the process to make serviceable or sell overstocked material.
  • Work with receiving inspection, supply chain, and accounting to help clear quarantined material.
  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives related to inventory control, material management, and operational improvement as assigned.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating inventory management processes, procedures, work instructions, and related documentation to support inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, materials management, or a related field.
  • Experience with cycle counting and inventory reconciliation.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies and track inventory transactions.
  • Experience with aviation, aerospace, MRO, or aircraft engine parts is required.
  • Experience with serialized or high‑value inventory is preferred.
  • Experience with Quantum Control or another inventory/ERP system is preferred.
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with Materials, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams.

Job Demands:

Work is performed in a Shop environment and requires the ability to perform extensive standing, driving, walking, and climbing; to lift up to 50lbs. regularly; to manipulate up to 100lbs. with assistance. Must be able to bend, stoop, climb to reach materials, and work in a noisy environment.
