Job summary

CME Wire & Cable, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Inventory Clerk to plan and execute cycle counts and reconcile counts with ERP/WMS records. You will audit locations, verify receipts and transfers, and prepare adjustments with supporting documentation.

This role requires attention to detail, experience with scanners and Excel, and forklift certification or ability to obtain it within 30 days. The position supports training staff on counting procedures and inventory controls, while ensuring

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of 2 years in warehouse inventory control, cycle counting, physical inventory, or related operations.
• Experience with ERP/WMS systems, scanners, inventory transactions, and location control.
• Experience reconciling inventory discrepancies and variances between system and physical counts.
• Familiarity with receiving, transfers, picking, staging, and shipping processes related to inventory accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Current forklift operator certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic cycle counts.
• Research inventory shortages, overages, mislocations, and discrepancies.
• Reconcile physical inventory against system records and document variances.
• Perform product and location audits to verify quantity, condition, labeling, stock rotation, hold status, and location accuracy.
• Validate receipts, transfers, picks, staged material, and system transactions for inventory accuracy.
• Prepare or submit approved inventory adjustments and maintain documentation and audit trails.
• Support physical inventory activities, 5S and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Identify and communicate inventory-impacting issues to the appropriate teams.
• Assist with training employees on cycle counting, location control, scanning, and inventory procedures.
• Follow all company policies, OSHA requirements, PPE rules, and safe handling practices.
• Maintain inventory count sheets, discrepancy records, and electronic files.
• Prepare recurring inventory accuracy and performance reports for warehouse management.

Job description

• Plan and perform daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic cycle counts in accordance with established inventory-control schedules.
• Research inventory shortages, overages, mislocations, duplicate locations, scanning issues, and transaction discrepancies.
• Reconcile physical inventory against QAD, ERP, WMS, scanner, and other system records and document inventory variances.
• Perform product and location audits to verify quantity, condition, labeling, stock rotation, hold status, and location accuracy.
• Validate receipts, transfers, picks, staged material, and system transactions for inventory accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare or submit approved inventory adjustments and maintain accurate supporting documentation and audit trails.
• Support physical inventory activities, stock-rotation reviews, space-utilization reviews, 5S, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Identify and communicate inventory-impacting shortages, overages, damage, delays, equipment issues, and process failures to the appropriate teams.
• Support outbound shipment verification and load-readiness checks when assigned, including review of quantities, labels, documentation, product condition, route/date, and customer or carrier requirements.
• Assist warehouse personnel with inventory-location research, product availability, scanning, transaction questions, and inventory-control procedures.
• Maintain inventory count sheets, discrepancy records, adjustment documentation, physical-inventory records, and electronic files.
• Prepare recurring inventory accuracy, cycle-count, discrepancy, adjustment, and performance reports for warehouse management.
• Assist with training employees on cycle counting, location control, scanning, stock rotation, documentation, and inventory procedures.
• Follow all company policies, OSHA requirements, PPE rules, security procedures, and safe material-handling practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of2 years of experience in warehouse inventory control, cycle counting, physical inventory, discrepancy reconciliation, or related warehouse operations.
• Experience working with ERP/WMS systems, scanners, inventory transactions, and location control.
• Experience researching and reconciling inventory discrepancies and system-to-physical variances.
• Working knowledge of receiving, transfers, picking, staging, and shipping processes as they relate to inventory accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research inventory variances and identify root causes.
• Ability to work effectively both in a warehouse office environment and on the warehouse floor.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Current forklift operator certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with QAD or a similar ERP system.
• Previous 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, inventory control, or warehouse safety training.
