Job summary

Verst Group Logistics Inc. is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to maintain accurate inventory records, perform daily cycle counts, and verify shipments and receipts against KPI standards using in-house and client systems.

The role requires 2–4 years in inventory control or related fields, strong Excel skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. It offers a full-time schedule in a warehouse environment with potential for overtime.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • 2–4 years of experience in inventory control, quality, or related role, preferred
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft Excel experience, required
  • Able to follow specific instructions thoroughly and accurately
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities and experience using Root Cause Analysis

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily physical cycle counts to ensure accurate records and product availability.
  • Maintain inventory tracking systems and produce KPI reports using WMS and reporting tools.
  • Analyze inventory locations daily to forecast shortages or space requirements.
  • Collaborate with WMS team to set up new items in the WMS Inventory.
  • Assist in plant layout discussions and maintain SOPs/DOPs.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control procedures and Lean manufacturing practices.
  • Accounts for defective or damaged product and follow corrective actions.
  • Conduct all annual physical inventories as necessary.
  • Work with Operations Manager to create and maintain SOPs and DOPs.
  • Provide operational support and participate in process improvement meetings.

Position Summary:

Creates and maintains accurate records of all inventories, completes daily physical cycle counts, and verifies that product shipments and receipts are properly accounted for by working with in-house and client systems to balance inventory to required KPI standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Completes daily physical cycle counts to ensure accurate records are kept and availability of product.
  • Maintain inventory tracking systems producing reports on inventory KPI’s to warehouse and Senior Management using existing WMS and reporting tools.
  • Conduct daily analyses of inventory locations to forecast documenting potential inventory shortages or space requirements.
  • Work with the WMS team, warehouse management and client as necessary to set up new items in the WMS Inventory.
  • Assists and makes recommendations in the plant layout discussions as necessary.
  • Implement and/or maintain inventory control procedures and industry best practice.
  • Accounts for all defective or damaged product and follow appropriate corrective actions.
  • Conduct all annual physical Inventories as necessary.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to create and maintain all SOP’s and DOPs.

Marginal Functions:

  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes.
  • Provides backup support to material handling operators as needed.
  • Participate in meetings regarding facility layout, process flow, inventory profiles etc.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required to complete job functions.

Job Specifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Preferred
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in an Inventory Control, Quality, or related role, preferred
  • Basic Math and Reading skills
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft Excel experience, Required
  • Prefer prior experience operating a forklift
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities and experience using Root Cause Analysis
  • Previous experience in an Automotive Distribution environment, preferred
  • Previous experience with Continuous Improvement Plans and Lean Manufacturing techniques, preferred.
  • Familiarity with SOX Compliance Requirements, preferred.
  • Familiarity with SDS/Hazmat Safety and OSHA Safety Regulations, preferred.
  • Able to follow specific instructions thoroughly and accurately, and provide instructions to other associates as needed
  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce company policies and procedures
  • Ability to reach, bend, climb and lift up to 50lbs safely as needed
  • Good hand/eye coordination and motor skills
  • Able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed due to customer demand

Experience
Required
  • 2 years: Experience with inventory forecasting, slotting, warehouse layout optimization, or space utilization analysis.
  • 2 years: Experience performing daily cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory audits.
  • 2 years: Previous experience in inventory control, inventory management, or warehouse inventory experience.
