Job summary

Dart Container is seeking an Inventory Control Specialist to optimize inventory flow, track and analyze stock, and support cross-functional teams in a manufacturing/warehouse setting. You will manage ERP-based inventory control, cycle counts, and MRO purchases, while training staff on SAP modules and driving continuous improvement.

As a key link in the supply chain, you’ll ensure accurate recordkeeping, timely reporting, and efficient space utilization, contributing to peak production

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Inventory control experience in a manufacturing or warehouse.
  • Hands-on ERP experience; SAP preferred.
  • Strong Excel and Word skills.
  • Detail-oriented with analytical mindset and documentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear communication and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Safety-first mindset and GMP knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and control workflow across production or warehouse teams.
  • Record and monitor site inventory using ERP systems.
  • Oversee cycle counts, analyze discrepancies, identify root causes.
  • Manage MRO purchases and other materials to optimize stock levels.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams on deliveries and pricing.
  • Create POs, track requisitions, resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper receipt and storage of inventory.
  • Produce required reports and analyze inventory for space optimization.
  • Apply FIFO and efficient space utilization; train staff on SAP modules.
  • Handle returns, warranties, and defect claims; file and track.
  • Collaborate with procurement for local vendors and pricing quotes.

As the Inventory Control Specialist at Dart Container, you’ll be the go-to expert on all things inventory—from tracking and reporting to analyzing and optimizing. You’ll support production by ensuring materials are where they need to be, when they need to be there. You’ll own the numbers, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate cross-functionally to keep our supply chain running at peak performance.

What You'll Do:
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and control the flow of work within or between production or warehouse teams
  • Record, control, and monitor site inventory using ERP inventory and purchasing systems
  • Oversee cycle counting activities, compile results, investigate discrepancies, and determine root cause
  • Purchase Maintenance, Repair and Operating (MRO) goods and services, and other materials, parts, supplies or services needed by the plant or warehouse to ensure appropriate inventory levels
  • Contact vendors or internal departments regarding delivery, lost shipments, incorrect paperwork, pricing, and quantity discrepancies
  • Create purchase orders, track requisitions, research, and resolve discrepancies
  • Ensure all inventory items are received and stored appropriately
  • Track and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Create, compile, and deliver required reports
  • Analyze incoming inventory and determine optimal space allocation
  • Ensure proper inventory turning techniques, such as First In, First Out (FIFO)
  • Coordinate inventory moves and consolidation to efficiently utilize space
  • Train employees on SAP systems and procedures, assist with troubleshooting and serve as the plant or warehouse subject matter expert for SAP modules relating to supply chain and inventory management
  • File claims and track status for defective or returned products, repairs, and warranties
  • Recommend returns or sale of obsolete items
  • Collaborate with corporate procurement for vendors that do not have a corporate account. Research vendors and prepare pricing quotes. May negotiate contacts with local vendors as needed for small purchases
What You Bring:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous inventory control experience, especially in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems—SAP preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and documentation skills
  • Proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • A safety-first mindset and knowledge of GMPs
