Position Summary
The Maintenance Inventory Specialist is responsible for the receiving, storing and distributing of parts, supplies and equipment and for the upkeep and maintenance spare parts inventory with the CMMS, as well as the overall appearance and organization of inventory stocking area(s). Is responsible for parts accuracy by ensuring that proper checkout and kitting processes are followed and to ensure the availability of essential maintenance spare parts and supplies. Coordinates maintenance and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials to support our plant operations. Completes proper CMMS and procurement documentation following all company policies and relevant regulations. Communicates both internally and externally with Maintenance, Operations, Vendors, etc.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintains database of all parts, supplies and equipment ensuring all parts are assigned to active asset.
- Identifies obsolete parts (not assigned to asset) that can be eliminated from inventory.
- Receives, stores and issues supplies, parts, equipment and other materials.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records for maintenance parts and supplies.
- Maintains a clean, organized inventory – every part/location labeled.
- Perform regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and help initiate purchase orders to replenish supplies as needed.
- Receive, inspect, and store incoming parts and supplies in designated storage areas.
- Checks quantity and quality of received goods against purchase orders to ensure that they are correct.
- Keep track of stock levels and usage patterns to optimize inventory management.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure timely availability of parts for repairs and preventive maintenance. Pulls and kits parts in preparation for maintenance WO’s, shutdown/weekend projects.
- Generate reports on part inventory levels and usage.
- Partners with the Maintenance Procurement Specialist to identify part stock outs, modify min/max levels and arrange replenishment PO’s for part stock outs.
- Work closely with the maintenance team, suppliers and internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure the availability of necessary supplies and equipment.
- Responsible for working with the Maintenance Procurement Specialist to send out parts for repair.
- Ensure all spare parts activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Address spare part discrepancies/issues with Maintenance Inventory and Planning Supervisor.
- Use understanding of equipment parts to facilitate emergency and non-emergency parts/service PO’s.
- May pick up and deliver supplies, parts and equipment.
- Partners with Maintenance Procurement Specialist in developing inventory levels (min/max) based on purchasing history and sourcing opportunities, as well as, Identifies obsolete parts (not assigned to asset) that and eliminate from inventory.
- Act as backup to the Maintenance Procurement Specialist, when needed.
- Perform other qualified duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management and Maintenance.
