Description
As an Inventory Control and Purchasing Administrator at Transwest, you will be the linchpin between our Parts Department sales staff, management team, and our physical parts inventory. You will serve as the in-house expert on inventory management fundamentals and procurement processes, ensuring our branch has exactly what it needs to support our customers. We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment and understands the heavy-duty parts industry.
What You Will Do
Inventory Control & Procurement
- Analyze available information and advise management and sales staff on procurement decisions and inventory management best practices.
- Review and process purchase orders for both customer needs and stocking inventory
- Work with suppliers to process returns for non-moving or non-inventory product
- Oversee inventory workflow to help maintain highly accurate inventory data.
Department Support & Administration
- Provide elite, professional support to branch staff regarding parts purchases and returns
- Assist AP with matching invoices to inventory receipts to ensure a smooth workflow of payables.
- Follow up on active orders, resolve issues expeditiously, and document quality concerns.
- Work collaboratively with the parts manager and staff to drive sales and share product knowledge.
- Assist with physical inventory and other departmental/company projects that occasionally occur in a fast growing enterprise.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: 4+ years of relevant experience preferred. Background in heavy-duty, medium-duty, or trailer parts is highly favorable.
- Skills: Strong computer and data entry skills, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional organizational abilities.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, resolve vendor or supply chain issues gracefully, and navigate ambiguous situations independently.
- Requirements: High school diploma (or equivalent), a valid Driver's License with an MVR in good standing, and basic knowledge of vehicles and equipment.
- Onboarding: Must successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass a post-offer background check, physical, and drug screening.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending, or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
- Ability to communicate by providing verbal feedback in a professional manner.
- Ability to receive and analyze data and input into the computer.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Normal range of hearing and vision.
