Position Summary
The Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting inventory control processes within the organization. This role monitors stock levels, performs inventory transactions, conducts cycle counts, and helps ensure materials and products are received, stored, and issued accurately. The Inventory Clerk works closely with operations, purchasing, warehouse, and management teams to support efficient inventory management and maintain data integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure data is updated promptly and accurately.
- Perform routine cycle counts and assist with physical inventory audits.
- Track inventory movements, transfers, adjustments, and stock transactions.
- Assist with the preparation and verification of outbound shipments.
- Coordinate with vendors, carriers, and internal departments regarding inventory-related issues.
- Enter inventory transactions into inventory management software or enterprise systems.
- Identify damaged, obsolete, expired, or excess inventory and report findings.
- Support compliance with company policies, procedures, and inventory standards.
General Support
- Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing, production, and operations teams.
- Assist with inventory-related projects and process improvements.
- Support safety and housekeeping standards within storage and warehouse areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support inventory and operational goals.
Education
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 1-3 years of inventory, warehouse, logistics, clerical, or related experience preferred.
- Experience using inventory management, warehouse management, or ERP systems is a plus.
- Ability to perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of inventory control and warehouse operations.
Working Conditions
- Work may be performed in an office, warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing facility, or retail environment.
- Use of computers, inventory scanners, and warehouse equipment may be required.
