Job summary

Advance Auto Parts is seeking an Inventory Analyst to optimize inventory levels across the network, ensuring timely movement to stores with the right volume. You will manage complex categories, build long-term strategies, and partner with Merchandising, Marketing, Pricing, and Supply Chain to drive performance.

The role requires strong Excel skills, inventory management experience, and an ability to tell data-driven stories using large datasets.

Qualifications

• Requires advanced Excel and strong analytical skills.
• Experience in inventory management and related software.
• Proficiency in retail math and KPI interpretation.
• Bachelor’s or equivalent in business/SCM fields.

Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders to maintain inventory levels at distribution centers.
• Review KPIs (weeks of supply, in-stock depth) and adjust as needed.
• Coordinate with Merchandising, Marketing, Pricing, & Supply Chain partners.
• Conduct root-cause analysis for stockouts and obsolete inventory.

Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Inventory Analyst will be responsible for optimizing inventory levels at each node of the network and ensuring product is moving to the right location at the right time, with the right volume. The Inventory Analyst will manage the most critical or complex business categories on each team and serves as a leader regarding all inventory activities for their assigned businesses. A best-in-class Inventory Analyst will help build a long-term strategy for the category in partnership with their manager & cross functional partners across Merchandising, Marketing, Pricing, & Supply Chain.What will you do?Core ExecutionPlace purchase orders from vendors to AAP Distribution Centers to maintain adequate inventory to support AAP Company Owned stores and hundreds of Independently operated storesEnsure that proper inventory levels are maintained by consistently reviewing KPIs such as weeks of supply and depth in-stock metricsTrack vendor PO’s from order point to DC to ensure vendors are shipping on time and in fullRoot cause supplier issues to maintain acceptable performanceMonitor product flow throughout the supply chain to create an excellent customer experienceParticipate in Lifecycle Management review process; determine path forward for slow moving product and obsolete inventoryMonitor inventory-turn performance and identify opportunities to optimize inventory levelsRoot cause analysis and troubleshooting when stores or DCs are out of stockCollaboration/PartnershipLeader in establishing a strong, collaborative, vendor-facing relationship to ensure expectations are defined and achievedMentor and develop less experienced Inventory Planners with day-to-day responsibilitiesDevelop and foster a cohesive team environment with immediate team and cross-functional partners alikeBusiness Analysis/InsightsReview KPIs and reporting against targets to provide visibility to partners and leadership.
