Job summary

Figure is an AI robotics company headquartered in San Jose, CA, building autonomous humanoid robots for home and commercial use. The Finance team seeks an experienced accounting leader to own cost and inventory accounting, fixed assets, leases, and external audits.

The role requires 8+ years in accounting with 5+ years in cost/inventory at hardware/manufacturing, plus strong NetSuite and US GAAP expertise. CPA preferred, leadership experience a plus in a fast-growth environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of US GAAP for inventory, fixed assets, and leases.
• Experience with NetSuite and ERP data reconciliation across MES/PLM/WMS.

Responsibilities

• Track and reconcile inventory across raw materials, subassemblies, WIP, and finished goods.
• Manage data integrity between ERP (NetSuite) and MES/PLM/WMS systems; resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain cost model with overhead allocation and labor/machine rates.
• Analyze PPV, material usage variances, and production inefficiencies for margin analysis and COGS.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules; classify R&D prototypes vs capitalizable assets; track depreciation.
• Lead automation of end-to-end transaction workflows and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support increasing transaction volume; prepare technical accounting memos.
• Provide lease accounting analysis and monthly reconciliations.
• Support external reporting for government grants or incentives; assist with compliance.
• Lead annual external financial audits.

Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is headquartered in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities

Cost Accounting and Inventory Management

• Track and reconcile inventory across raw materials, subassemblies, WIP, and finished goods.
• Manage data integrity between ERP (NetSuite) and operational systems (MES, PLM, WMS). Resolve discrepancies between quantities, costs, and system records across locations or systems (e.g., NetSuite vs. MES).
• Maintain cost model, including overhead allocation and labor/machine rates.
• Analyze purchase price variances (PPV), material usage variances, and production inefficiencies to support margin analysis and COGS reporting.

Capital Asset and Fixed Asset Accounting

• Maintain fixed asset schedules and manage capitalization policies for PP&E.
• Ensure proper classification between R&D prototypes vs. capitalizable production assets.
• Track depreciation and coordinate asset lifecycle management.

General accounting

• Lead the automation of end-to-end transaction workflows and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support with growing volume of transactions (accounting syncs, reimbursements, etc)
• Prepare technical accounting memos.

Lease accounting management.

• Technical accounting analysis for new leases
• Manage monthly lease accounting reconciliation and entries.

Tax

• Support external reporting requirements for government grants or incentives.
• Assist with quarterly and annual compliance.

Audit Readiness

• Lead annual external financial audits.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
• Experience: 8+ years in accounting, including 5+ years in cost and inventory accounting at a hardware or manufacturing company. Prior experience as a manager at a high-growth company is a plus.
• Technical accounting: Deep expertise of US GAAP for inventory accounting (ASC 330), fixed assets (ASC 360), leases (ASC 842), and of the R&D vs. capitalizable cost distinction.
• Systems: Hands-on NetSuite experience, ideally including inventory and manufacturing modules. Experience with systems integration and reconciling ERP data against MES, PLM, and WMS systems.
• Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a knack for identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Process building: Track record of designing and documenting controls and processes from scratch in a fast-scaling environment.
• Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for successful collaboration with vendors and internal stakeholders.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000 to $195,00 per year.

The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
