Job description

Inventory Accountant | Heavily Hybrid (Tampa, FL Preferred) | $60,000–$65,000 + Full Benefits

This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing, global, mission-driven company as an Inventory Accountant — a role where your cost accounting and inventory accounting skills will be applied in a technically interesting and professionally distinctive environment. You will play a central role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's commodity inventory, working closely with Finance and Operations to track, reconcile, and report on asset positions across multiple platforms and registries. The inventory function has active cleanup work underway — including reconciliation gaps and receiving and fulfillment issues — and the right person will bring both the technical foundation to address those items and the process-improvement instincts to build better controls going forward. If you bring 2–5 years of accounting experience, a solid understanding of how inventory flows including WIP versus finished goods, and the curiosity to build technical depth in a specialized and growing field, this is a role with real professional upside and a mission behind it that most accounting positions simply cannot offer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and reconcile inventory records across multiple platforms and registries — ensuring books accurately reflect real-world asset movement at all times.
  • Reconcile inventory between the company's inventory management system and ERP, identifying and resolving discrepancies across receiving, fulfillment, and subledger activity.
  • Process inventory transactions including acquisitions, transfers, and retirements with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare journal entries and supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP as part of month-end and quarter-end close activities.
  • Manage inventory adjustments and address recurring problem areas in receiving and fulfillment workflows.
  • Support internal and external audit requests related to inventory with organized, accurate documentation.
  • Identify discrepancies and work cross-functionally with Operations and commercial teams to resolve them promptly.
  • Assist in developing and improving inventory tracking procedures and controls.
  • Generate inventory reports and summaries for Finance leadership as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of accounting or finance experience; strong internship experience considered.
  • Strong cost accounting and inventory accounting experience — you understand how inventory flows, including WIP versus finished goods.
  • Foundational understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy — you do not move on until the numbers tie.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP or accounting systems a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in mission-driven, sustainability-oriented work.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with a cloud-based ERP system.
  • Exposure to commodity-based inventory, environmental assets, or financial services — not required, but candidates with this background will find the work immediately familiar.
Why you'll love working here

A technically distinctive role in a fast-growing, global company operating at the intersection of finance and sustainability — the kind of professional experience that sets your résumé apart. Active cleanup and process improvement work from day one — you will not be maintaining a static function but building something better, with the authority and cross-functional support to do it. A fully remote position with preference for Tampa-area candidates, offering real flexibility without sacrificing team connectivity. A mission-driven organization with genuine global impact — your financial stewardship supports work that matters well beyond the balance sheet. Competitive base salary of $60,000–$65,000 with flexibility for candidates who bring exceptional experience, plus a full benefits package.
