Job summary

Amentum is seeking a technically capable CAD/Product Definition Mechanical Designer to support development, modification, and configuration control of mechanical hardware for U.S. Navy facilities.

You will translate engineering intent into accurate 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and controlled design documentation using Autodesk Inventor and related tools, while ensuring GD&T compliance and lifecycle traceability across concept to sustainment. Travel approximately 25% to field sites.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on CAD experience with Autodesk Inventor
• Ability to obtain US Government Secret Clearance
• Experience creating and modifying mechanical parts, assemblies, and production drawings
• Knowledge of GD&T and drawing practices
• Experience supporting CAD data management in Vault/PDM/PLM
• Ability to work with engineers, drafters, technicians, vendors, and field personnel

Responsibilities

• 3D CAD Modeling and Mechanical Design Support: create fully parametric models and assemblies in Inventor from sketches and measurements
• Engineering Drawings and Product Definition: produce 2D drawings and BOMs with GD&T
• PLM, Digital Twin, and Digital Thread Support: help structure design data for lifecycle use
• Configuration Management and CAD Data Control: maintain organized CAD files, revisions, and templates
• Fabrication, Installation, and Field Support: provide CAD data and field clarifications; travel up to 25%
