Job summary

UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh is hiring a Full-Time Invasive Cardiac Technologist for the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the McCandless location. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or RCIS, with ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology/RCIS certification, ACLS within one year, and BLS/CPR. On-call coverage, four 10-hour shifts, and on-site procedures are expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or RCIS.
• ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology OR RCIS certification preferred.
• ACLS within one year of hire/transfer into department/role.
• BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Ensures all images are accurately coded, tracked in PACS, and linked to the correct electronic record for archival and interpretation.
• Maintains continuing education and competency standards.
• Builds positive relationships with patients and coworkers, showing care, active listening, dignity, and respect.
• Works collaboratively within the department and across teams to support efficient patient care.
• Verifies patient identity using two identifiers and follows universal protocols during procedures.
• Applies proper positioning and radiographic techniques for diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Administers contrast under physician direction.
• Promotes aseptic technique and patient safety.

ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Invasive Cardiac Technologist to support our Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the McCandless location. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Shift Details

• Monday - Friday


• Four 10-hour shifts 7am - 5:30pm


• On-call shifts required to cover nights, weekends and holidays


• Shifts will be further discussed during the interview

Responsibilities

• Ensures all images are accurately coded, tracked in PACS, linked to the appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation, and that all charges are entered correctly.


• Maintains required continuing education and competency standards.


• Builds positive relationships with patients and coworkers, demonstrating care, active listening, dignity, and respect.


• Works collaboratively within the department and across teams to support efficient patient care.


• Verifies patient identity using two identifiers and follows universal protocols during all procedures.


• Reviews patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols to ensure optimal data acquisition.


• Documents patient history in the electronic record as required.


• Maintains point-of-care testing standards, including daily quality control for procedural devices.


• Clearly communicates instructions and explains procedures to patients to ease concerns and encourage cooperation.


• Applies proper positioning and radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and interventional procedures.


• Demonstrates knowledge of patient preparation, equipment operation, and patient monitoring systems.


• Functions competently in the first assist role.


• Promotes aseptic technique, patient safety, and adherence to time-out procedures.


• Administers contrast under physician direction.


• Supports other departments as assigned.


• Maintains working knowledge of equipment and supplies.


• Provides standby call coverage as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide policies.


• Adheres to radiation safety practices for patients and staff, including proper use of shielding and monitoring devices, and documents patient radiation exposure in the electronic record.

Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS).

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

• ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology OR ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Echocardiograph and Ultrasound


• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire/transfer into department/role.


• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
