Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an Intramural Sport/Activity Coach to oversee and support intramural activities. The role emphasizes a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate experience for students, with strong organizational and communication skills essential for success.

Candidates should have passion for coaching and mentoring students; coaching experience is preferred but not required. Compliance with licensing and district safety trainings is required, with a stipend-based compensation

Qualifications

• Must hold ISBE license or Substitute Teaching Certificate or complete IESA-approved coach education program.
• Must complete and maintain district-mandated training: concussion protocols, CPR/AED, first aid, and cardiac arrest awareness.
• Head Coach Expectations include attending meetings and coordinating with Athletic Director and staff.

Responsibilities

• Attend and participate in intramural, athletic department, or school meetings.
• Collaborate with Athletic Director on program expectations, schedules, participation, and facility needs.
• Inspect facilities, maintain cleanliness, and set up sport/activity-specific needs.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities focusing on skill development, teamwork, safety, and sportsmanship.
• Supervise students before, during, and after intramural activities and communicate with families.
